Chattel Mortgage is a business facility which suit sole traders, partnerships and company’s using the cash method of accounting. Chattel mortgage allows the customer to own the vehicle from the date of purchase and the financier takes security over the vehicle for the term of the loan. The cash method of accounting allows businesses who are registered for GST to claim the GST in the vehicle price in their next Business Activity Statement opposed to claiming it throughout the financed term.
